Lisa Kimsey - director

“Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance. Great dancers are great because of their passion.” ― Martha Graham

“Do a loony-goony dance
'Cross the kitchen floor,
Put something silly in the world
That ain't been there before.”

 Shel Silverstein,

A Light in the Attic

At her first dance class, four year old Lisa Kimsey knew she had found her life's passion!  Miss Lisa, as she became known, began teaching in high school and continued her dance career in Los Angels and Wisconsin following graduation.

Back home in the islands, Lisa has taught at numerous studios and opened several of her own. She is most proud of founding The Movement Center, a thriving performing arts school in Kaimuki.

Lisa completed a three year instructor training with Dance Educators of America and the  60-hour "Summer Dance Institute for Teachers" training at the Creative Dance Center where she learned BrainDance and brain compatible lesson planning.

Lisa is excited to bring Smarty Dance to communities throughout the islands.
